Jaylen Brown and the Celtics agree to a record-setting 5-year, $303.7 million supermax contract.

Agent Jason Glushon confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday that Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has agreed to sign the richest deal in NBA history, a five-year supermax extension for up to $303.7 million.

On Sunday night, Brown and Glushon met with Celtics management and ownership in Boston to iron out the kinks in the unprecedented contract extension that will keep the two-time All-Star with the team through the 2028-29 season.

With the salary cap and league revenue on the upswing, Brown's contract tops the $276 million extension that two-time MVP Nikola Jokic signed with the Denver Nuggets. On Monday in Boston, Brown (then age 26) got his physical to finalize the contract.

After Brown made second team All-NBA in 2022-23, he was offered the Celtics' five-year supermax agreement. Brown and fellow All-Star Jayson Tatum, who can sign a supermax contract with the Celtics this summer, are one of the league's most potent duos and essential components of Boston's title hopes.

Last season, Brown improved his scoring average to 26.6 points on 49% shooting. His current contract's last year will pay him $31.8 million.

When Brown's contract begins in the 2024-25 season, he will earn $52.3 million; by the time it expires in the 2028-29 season, he will have earned $69.1 million. Since he signed an extension, he forfeits his right to a no-trade clause.

Last season, Tatum and Brown averaged 56.7 points between the two of them, which was the fourth-highest mark for a duo since the 1976-1977 merger (source: ESPN Stats & Information). Only Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant in the past 30 seasons have scored 30 points in 10 games. Brown progressed as a shot creator last season with 54% of his made shots unassisted -- a career-high 1.15 points per direct drive, according to Second Spectrum.

Each of Brown's seven NBA seasons has ended with the Celtics advancing to the postseason, including three visits to the Eastern Conference finals and a trip to the NBA Finals in 2022. The former UC Berkeley standout was selected third overall by Boston in 2016.

Brown is a businessman, fashionista, mentor to numerous kids, and philanthropist in Boston and throughout the world when he's not on the court. His current position in the NBA Players Association is that of vice president.

The native of Atlanta recently participated in Paris Fashion Week and shared his story of off-court success at Variety's Sports and Entertainment Summit. Through the 7uice Foundation, he has been creating alliances that pave the way for minority kids to gain equitable educational and leadership chances.

For the third year in a row, Brown has brought 100 children from Boston public schools to Boston for his Bridge Program. In the offseason, he'll also travel to Kenya to give talks and mentor more than 200 students there. In addition, Brown was one of twenty NBA players that attended the National Basketball Players Association's (NBPA) "The Sanctuary," a performance retreat held in Andalusia, Spain.
